Dodging Raindrops

May 28, 2011

This spring has really been a challenge dealing with this weather!  I feel like I’m scheduling and then having to reschedule almost all my shoots because of rain.  This sweet family had to reschedule with me and then during our rescheduled shoot, go figure, thunder started to rumble.  But thankfully the raindrops held off until the end of our time together.  They have two of the sweetest little boys.  Their new little baby has cheeks that you just want to smooch.  And their toddler stole my heart with his grins, cute fedora hat and adorable Toms shoes!

A grandparents’ love

May 18, 2011

Let me start with the statement that I LOVE these people!  I had the incredible honor of doing their beautiful daughter’s wedding a couple summers ago.  I instantly fell in love with the family and friends connected to that wedding and have been lucky enough to keep in touch with many of them!  I was so excited (hmmm…. maybe giddy is a better word) when I got an email from Mickey asking me if I could take photos of her and her husband, Mark, with their ADORABLE 3 year old grandson!  What a joy it was to capture the love that they have for him.  I literally just snapped photos of them having a good time – I barely had to give any direction at all.  They were perfect models – snuggling and laughing the entire shoot!  Thank you, Mark and Mickey, for a fun Saturday morning!  I look forward to the next time that I get to see you!  Oh, and I think your grandson might have a future in modeling.  Just check out the first photo of him.  So sweet!

Prom Night?????

May 18, 2011

So, to my fellow photographers.  Have you ever had a shoot not go as planned?  Let’s just say that I am soooo thankful that I know this family and am so happy that they were laid back and flexible because things didn’t go quite as I thought they would.  So, it was prom night…  yea….  at the IMA…. Lots and lots of crazy bright dresses (some of which made me blush and I thought to myself that I would never allow Evie in such a thing when she was in high school – eeek!).  There were lots of parents taking photos and lots of cars taking ALL the parking spots by the Lilly House.  Woops.  But thankfully, this family is so wonderful and easy going that they were fine to walk a ways and deal with the chaos of prom night.  The shoot went great!  These kids were PERFECT and  such good listeners.  It ended up being a wonderful spring night and the prom goers eventually disappeared.  So, I thought it would be fun to end our session down by the pond on the sandy beach.   We walked out to the beach and…   er….  hmmmm….  the beach was gone.  Flooded.  Completely flooded.  haha!  So, maybe next year we can get some shots down there.  🙂

I got an email from a sweet army wife asking for a photo session while her husband was home for just a few days.  I felt so honored to be able to capture the love of this family for them in photographs!  It ended up being a beautiful Wednesday evening (it was a little chilly but at least it was dry, haha!).  And there little guy ended up taking some of the coolest photos of the evenings.  I put two of them at the end of this blog.  I loved it – he would sit in my lap and look through the viewfinder and with my help, push the button!  A few of them were of course out of focus but I think he has a great future in the photography business.  I am so thankful to this man for his service to our country and so thankful to his beautiful wife and child who are sacrificing time with him so that we all can live in a safe country.  Thank you!!!!!

So, these are the photos that their little boy took!  And I LOVE them!  🙂  Very artistic!

Keep praying

May 15, 2011

So, this is my 3rd year to take photos of this adorable family.  You may remember my post from a year ago asking you to pray for the little boy in this family.  Keep praying!  He is still needing a miraculous healing to his little body.  He had a kidney transplant (thanks to his daddy) this past winter but sadly his little body rejected the kidney and they are back to where they started.  😦  However, this family keeps their chins up in the midst of disappointment and I admire them all so very much!  And I tell you what, I laughed so hard during this photo shoot because this little guy has such a witty humor about him.  And I have a feeling that his little sister will be telling me jokes next year – check out her adorable facial expressions!!!!  I just adore both of their kids and look forward to our yearly family sessions!  Enjoy the pics!

I was so happy when I got to the Art Museum to see the blossoms on the trees!  It was a beautiful morning (with no rain!!!!).   I had so much fun getting to spend a couple hours with this precious little family.  Their sweet little girl wasn’t quite sure about me at the beginning but she warmed up to my camera as the photo shoot went on.  But even her concerned and serious face is adorable!  And their little guy was all smiles and such a great listener!   There are tons of photos in this blog post because I couldn’t just pick a few.  (Sorry.  I know, I have that problem a lot!)

A much warmer day

April 28, 2011

So, this past winter I did an engagement session for this couple and it was sooooo cold!  Despite the weather, the photos turned out really fun – there was pretty snow falling and we were up at the art museum…  but…  it was soooooo cold.  Did I say that already?  🙂  So, I suggested we cut our session short and meet back up again in the spring!  What a fun time I had doing part 2 of Jessica and Chris’s engagement session.  And their little girl had a little bit more fun with me this time, too.  It is easier to smile when your teeth aren’t chattering.  🙂  I adore this family and can not wait to photograph their wedding this summer!

This little gal also got a yummy cupcake from the Flying Cupcake!  Yum!!!!!!

I love this next photo because she was just twirling and twirling in the sunshine.  Ahhhh, to be a kid again!
Then we had to take some photos of mommy and daughter admiring each other rings!  🙂

The End

Sweet baby

April 21, 2011

It was cold and rainy outside but we were all dry and cozy inside for this sweet newborn shoot.  This little guy decided to come a few weeks early but he is healthy and doing great!!!!!  My good buddy Elizabeth Chapman of Elizabeth Chapman Photography came over for this shoot to help me and to be an extra set of hands!  Thanks D-Dog!  Here are just  a few photos from the shoot.

Everyone needs to have a cool friend when they are little.  This beautiful lady was mine.  She taught me how to play Nintendo and how to do the Electric Slide to Vanilla Ice’s song “Ice Ice Baby.”  Now we are grown up and she is still one of my cool friends.  But now I think she is cool because she loves Jesus, she loves others and she looks for ways to serve people.  And…..  I bet she can still do a pretty incredible Electric Slide.  🙂  I adore her family and her kids are some of the best behaved children that I have ever been around!!!!

I love this next one!  It makes me laugh!

Then we had to put a little Disney Magic into the photos!  With Mickey Mouse, a pirate who is as good looking as Johnny Depp and a princess who would melt any prince’s heart.

Work it guys

Of course we needed some photos of a mom and her sweet babies.

And a daddy with his little girl!

As I’m taking photos of mom and dad, I turn around to see what the kids are doing and they were just chillin’ – too funny!

She is turning 2!

April 6, 2011

I remember writing about this little sweetheart when she turned 1!  A year has already passed and this little girl just keeps getting cuter and cuter!  We had such a wonderful time taking photos of her and her beautiful family.  Even though there was an extreme wind advisory, we ventured outside and got some fun shots!  I’m not sure how much the adults (me included) enjoyed the extreme winds (my hair still has knots in it) but I think this 2 years old thought the wind was really fun!

And of course, we had to go running in the field to play in the wind!!!!!
